A behind-the-scenes look at the skin prep that goes into some of my favourite faces
Welcome to Get Ready With Me T: a behind-the-scenes look at the skin prep that happens before big moments. This is not a “red carpet secrets” series, I’m not here to either gatekeep or gossip, but in the more realistic sense of how we actually get skin looking calm, healthy and ready for the real world, I’d love to share.
First up: Lily Allen, who came to see me at the clinic just before kicking off her West End Girls tour in Glasgow on Monday.
When someone is about to go on stage night after night, their skin usually needs a bit of support. There will be photography - a lot of it, long rehearsals, the press tour, heavy stage makeup, late nights, adrenalin rushes, travel , quick changes, and all of it can leave skin looking tired or uneven, and throwing it out of balance.
After a quick general catch up, we turned to her skin needs, and - well, this part is confidential, however, I can say what I would recommend is a full face of Neo Rejuvenation, baby laser and microneedling. It’s one of the most effective but gentle treatments I like when skin needs a reset but you don’t want to go too aggressive. (Making it the perfect choice pre-wedding, holiday, important occasion, or yes, UK music tour.)
The aim is always the same: skin that looks like and behaves like good skin.
Why this worked well for Lily (and would for you too)
This treatment is perfect because it addresses several things at once - tone, texture and overall skin strength - without any pain or real downtime. When you combine technologies and knowledge in a thoughtful way, you can get a more balanced result than pushing the skin hard in one direction. That and an immediate glow.
It works in layers.
Laser helps even out skin tone, treat any breakouts, redness or melasma, while gently stimulating collagen for firmer skin.
Microneedling encourages the skin to repair itself by creating tiny micro-channels, which improves texture and resilience over time.
LED is there to calm everything down and support healing.
None of these steps are about forcing the skin to behave differently, they’re mostly nudging it to function better, which will make it more resilient to the influx of dates Lily is about to embark upon, and look consistently great doing them.
What I Sent Her Home With
Professional treatments are helpful, but what really keeps skin stable is the routine you follow afterwards, and as ever, I want to keep it super simple. Lily has got the full TT lineup, but I particularly encouraged her to use the Lactic Acid. It’s the best mild exfoliating step that keeps the surface of the skin smooth and bright, when a particularly hectic schedule might otherwise leave it a bit on the duller side. We’ve all been there!
